Our Aims:

Enhance professional development, knowledge and networking in the behavioral health field..

  1.      Training and professional development opportunities that may include CEU’s.
  2.      Web based behavioral health job postings and event calendar.
  3.      Legislative alerts, current news and electronic forum for information sharing
  4.      Professional networking opportunities.

Advocate for comprehensive behavioral health parity for health care services.

  1.       Policy monitoring of parity-related issues (i.e. available services, adequate level of care, viable reimbursement.)
  2.       On-going assessment of parity issues that need to be addressed (i.e. available services, adequate level of care and reimbursement).
  3.       Advocacy for expansion and full implementation of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act to serve all populations.

Improve population health through prevention efforts.

  1.       Identify and share evidence-based best practices for population health improvement through mental health and substance abuse prevention strategies.
  2.       Promotion of the strategic prevention framework and implementation of environmental strategies to prevent substance misuse and abuse. 
  3.       Promotion of mental wellness and suicide prevention.
  4.       Advocacy for prevention field, resources and environmental strategies.

 Promote improved patient experiences and outcomes.

  1.       Directory of providers and their insurances.
  2.       Promotion of evidence based practices (ie. Co-occurring, trauma informed, patient centered, and recovery oriented models of care).
  3.       Increase collaboration to leverage resources for services.
  4.       Advocacy for training and funding to provide a continuum of services and improved outcomes. 

Promote recovery oriented behavioral health services that are accessible, affordable, and individualized.

  1.       Development of statewide infrastructure for recovery services.
  2.       Promote best practices including Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, (ROSC), Certified Peer Support, and Comprehensive Community Services (CCS).
  3.       Advocacy for resources and systems needed for individuals to successfully reach and maintain recovery from substance abuse and stabilization of chronic mental illness.
